Hi,

The February issue of Sky at Night has a section on improving your Solar System images. I tried maximum entropy deconvolution (in Astra Image) on one of my Mars images taken with my 10-inch Newtonian on March 21st and I think there is a significant improvement.

Thanks for looking

Hi Richard, Astra Image is a pretty potent tool and personally, I wouldn't be without it.

I purchased Astra Image Pro from Stuart Hodgson back in 2008, initially I used LR decon but came to appreciate the subtleties of ME decon which has become my decon of choice since about the end of 2008. It does a top job so long as it is not overdone, I apply it very carefully, indeed.

Its always a good thing to experiment with programs like Astra Image to see what works and what doesn't to come up with a result that satisfies you.

Hope you don't mind but I have applied a slight levels adjustment to your image in Astra Image Pro.

Regards
Trevor

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the comments. Trevor, the levels adjustment looks great.
The article in Feb Sky at Night is the second of four. I'm trying to get hold of the January issue.

Like Monsieur Poirot all this is good for my little grey cells.

regards,

RichardJ.
