I was reading a little promo magazine for the Blue Mountains area and it mentioned Oberon was the highest town in the Blue Mountains at 1130 metres.

Wow, that is quite high for Australia.

It may be closer "Coonabarabran" type site to Sydney??

Has anyone imaged from there?

Greg.

Hi Greg,

Al (aka sheeny) lives there. He will be able to pass on first hand advice.

However, when one considers that the Sydney light dome has become more and
more evident at Ilford over the years, another hour and a half further away, then
one would suspect that it would be more evident at Oberon.

1130m! Pfff!

Sorry, just had to write that as I sit in our room at 3900m in Ecuador having just come in from having a squiz at the sky......

I have considered Oberon myself, but the missus doesn't like it for some reason.

Cheers,
Jason.

But if one needs to get to Lithgow in a hurry, Oberon is that little bit closer.

Where in Ecuador are you and how was the sky? Hope it was clear.

Enjoy the trip!

Oberon has a massive factory that is very well lit up at night. So light pollution free imaging from close to town is out. A little out of Oberon is good.

I like the skies north of Bathurst. Ilford to the nor west and I have family 40k's nor west of Bathurst and it is black as black out there.
