This image is part of a much larger project and as such not finished yet. This object really needs more data and I want to capture OIII and SII to round it off. As it stands now it lacks the punch of my recent images but that is because of the monochromatic reds. There is some blue in the nebula but no green and luminence is just about devoid altogether. Ken Crawford did a great rendering of this object using narrow band and RGB for the stars.

The framing might seem a little off right now but there is a load of dust and gas in the image which is not being shown properly yet. As such it looks off center. Hopefully the addition of the above data will make for an interesting composition.

Feel free to critique. I used Rob Gendlers Ha blending technique with the addition of another layer of Ha to give it some depth.

Things I change would be the cyan sky and contrast a little overblown.

Good effort just the same

Yes I agree with Peter. Theres a blue look to the sky and the Ha is too contrasty compared to how you normally present these type of images.

A bit to much in your face this one, IMO, not your best processing AFAIAC but as you said a work in progress

Cheers

Yeah the blend is a bugger and the best of a bad bunch of tries at this.

I always seem to have trouble with images that only contain monochromatic Ha in them. I end up with too much contast for some reason and this makes the image look flat. I had the same trouble with the cats paw a year or so ago.

This might be better, just some adjustments to curves and levels.

In any event this is going to need a lot more data before this image will come close being satisfactory. Thanks for your imput guys.

Looks like the start of a great photo Paul.

There is so much dust in there.

Ross.

Thanks Ross.

I have now done a reprocess and the link above has the reprocessed image. I will include a smaller copy for people to compare to the previous version above.
