Trevor, I hope there's more than just us two going :) Normally there's about 4000 people who attend I think ... so surely one or two more IIS'ers :)

It was a good event, despite the high clouds coming and going. I almost wish I hadn't take my scope so I could have wandered about inside and had a good look around. Good to see the level of interest in the community, it was very well attended. Couple of big dobs, a host of large SCTs and quite a few guys projecting the moon onto screens with digital video - pretty cool. Apparently, inside there were all sorts of science demonstrations from Scitech, an inflatable planetarium, and other very cool stuff to look at.
Lots of nice folk around - and hi to the Geraldton crew who stopped by for a chat.
I didn't get any pics - did anyone take any?

Hi Andrew,

It was a great night, good to see such a solid turnout for a 3rd year, I keep fearing it might drop off, but while it might have been down from last year's 3-4000 visitors it was still packed!

I had a great time chatting to people inside at my store. Like you I always wish I could just wander around being more a part of the overall experience. You got stuck outside, I get stuck inside. :)

I have a bunch of pics, admitedly mostly of my store, at my astrophotography blog (http://blog.astrophotography.com.au/2012/03/astrofest-2012-great-fun.html). I've attached a few extras.

The pics are all taken by my wife (I gave her the job of taking the photo's :) )

Roger.

Was good fun, bit of a shame with the clouds but that is part and parcel as we all well now. As we had to travel from Geraldton and saw that the weather was going to be bit dodgy we decided not to take the scopes which was great to be able to be free to enjoy everything rather than stuck at the scope. Was awesome meeting and chatting with everyone (Hi Andrew), looking forward to the next event.
