Remote location conjunction 26-3-12

Been thinking about this one for a few months,thought these grass trees would be an interesting feature in this conjunction.The location was Nukku.I had to travel into a friends' cattle property-rather a rough drive,then walk with all the gear quite a distance to set up and get some images.I carried in the tripod,two bodies a 70-200,and the 17-55 (this got the most use),plus the G12 and other bits.

I have only done a rough PP,there is a internal lens reflection on one,I'll PP that out and do dark frame adjust,when more time,I hope these may be of interest,any ideas or thoughts for cropping and adjusting,most welcomed.Being fairly low res the quality does may not be the best.

Here are a couple more,the very wide shot was taken with 10-22 mm lens as
I drove back trough the property,I went over a hill,so thought I'd get one more shot.Unfortunately,there is some light pollution from a town in the background.

It's a shame that weird tree got in the way of all of your shots. I understand that you were trying to get some foreground interest with its silhouette, but perhaps by moving slightly left or right so it's slightly offset rather than dead centre of the conjunction and covering the Moon, might've added a little more overall?

I quite like the 10-22 shot taking in Orion. Did you get any earlier with the 10-22 showing the conjunction a bit higher in the frame?

Thanks jjj and Troy.Thanks for your view point Troy,here is an image which has the grass tree off set,may be this is more to your liking?after look at this one I do agree with what your saying.

If you want to come up this arvo Troy,you are welcome- might go back out to this location,but bring a good pair of hiking boots!

That's more like what I was getting at I think. But what would really make it, in my opinion, would be with Jupiter higher up, out of the branches. Separates the foreground and sky a bit more. So the tree under the sky features, rather than blocking them kind of. Obviously something you can't go back and re-do now, but perhaps something to consider next time you're in a similar situation. And, of course, that's just my take on the scene.

Thanks Troy,yes-I see your view point,and think its a good take on it.Unfortunately I had cloud issues-earlier,and was lucky to get this lot.The ridge in far back ground of image one-first set,also had a pack of dingo's howling,and I was not able to carry rifle in with me,as had all the camera gear.So was rather please to get back to vehicle-it was very dark and some what spokey stumbling back(the dingo's killed a station dog on friday).Hopefully you can come up next time:thumbsup:

Thanks Stephen,much appreciated! Yes-this tree is ideal along with others near by-there huge 40 ft plus,looking at going back later in season for milky way shot behind it,may be build a fire away from tree-stoke it up in last few frames get grass tree lit up.You can come and camp and set up gear too.Lovely quite private camp spot I maintain it-no public and surplus light.
