:eyepop:Woaw !! we have a beautiful night up here tonight and have just finished a nice time outside looking at the Moon , Jupiter and Venus , really nice :D.
But thats not what this thread is about , not withstanding the beauty of the conjunction in the west .
No , what I had forgotten is in the east  . the red planet Mars , WOAW !!! again , I have my new 90mm f5.5 LP APO on mars now and I had forgotten just how bright and RED !!:eyepop: he is , just awsome ! .
I have my new 4mm Lanthium and 2x Celestron Ultima giving 225x and the view is the best I have ever seen in a small scope , super sharp , dark markings and a hint of a polar cap .. ( I think ? ) , And zero colour , nice.
What a combo . just carry the scope , mount and all out side and view ..
I am all dimp'ed up now and heading back out as mars rises higher , I can see a late night comming on , the first one in months , because of the wet season .:).

:) I just had to come in and say ,, Yes the polar cap is easily visable as a small white spot on the bottom left of the view in the refractor , the views getting better as mars gets higher in the sky , still holding 250x easily ..

I reckon one of the great things about observing is each year getting to re-discover the beauty of familiar objects as they come around again. Alas this has not worked for galaxies this year.

;) To true Paddy , its been 2 years since Marse was worth viewing , and I have forgotten how difficult it is to see anything on his surface , I've been back out tonight , there is a little high haze thats washing out those elusive markings , but not quite as bright so its a bit of a trade off ???
By the way whats wrong with the Galaxy hunting this year ?? , it cant be your beautiful scope ? ..
