This is a very rare Televue Ranger made in brass.
The overall condition and optics of this scope are very good but, for full disclosure, there is some sort of discolouration on the very outer edge of the objective. It only becomes visible when the objective is viewed from certain quite oblique angles but otherwise the objective looks fine when, for example, looking front on. I have attempted to photograph this as best as I can.
If you are interested in buying this scope you should do so first and foremost in the capacity of purchasing a collectors item and then only secondly as another example of a fine telescope made by Televue for astronomy purposes.
With respect to the 'collectors item' status I make two comments. Firstly, although the Rangers were a very popular and successful refractor for Televue very few were ever made in brass. For example, in the past 8 approximate years I have only seen 1 made in brass ever come up for sale on Astromart. Secondly, the original owner (I am the 2nd) of this scope was a very famous, now deceased, Australian. I will pass information concerning providence onto the new owner.
Asking $720 (including postage and insurance anywhere in Australia)
