Hi Everyone,

Finally the sky clears in Brisbane and not one to miss an opportunity I had a look for Jupiter, using Venus as a guide.

This is a quick processing of Jupiter at 4:50pm (0650UT) this afternoon. Visible are Ganymede (bottom) and Io (top) as well as the trailing edge of the Great Red Spot.

Canon EOS 600D in HD video crop mode, 5x Powermate, 12" SkyWatcher Goto Dobsonian manually tracked.

Also, Venus at 4:59pm :)

Thanks for looking,

Tom

To capture 5th magnitude moons in daylight can't be easy. Well done Tom.

Lester only Io was visible on the camera's screen when I was recording. I used Sky Safari to help me frame the wider shot in the hope of getting all 4 moons.

Really amazing imaging planets by daytime !
I did see stars up till +5.5 by daylight but only visually and a year ago I recorded Capella and Betelgeuse by video in the afternoon.

Nice video :) I did see Sirius once in the daytime with my Tasco 3 inch Newtonian 25 years ago. It's pretty special seeing another sun in our blue sky.
