For Sale

1) 24mm Televue Panoptic. (Sold)
The best value premium eyepiece on the market. I bought this about 2 years ago second hand and it has given sterling service since. Images are good, some cosmetic scratches on it but will suit someone looking for their first "good" eyepiece.

$150 plus postage (Sale pending)

2) Meade series 5000 34mm SWA (Now Sold)
This is a 68deg apparent field of view EP which gives a nearly 1.5deg true field in my 12" F5 dob. It is a really nice piece of glass and others that have used it have commented on its quality. It has a small cosmetic ding on the barrell ( I think it shows up OK in the photos). I purchased this new from Star Optics on the Gold Coast in 2009. It has had minimal use. This is a big piece of kit weighing in at nearly 800 grams. A TV equivalent weighs in at 725g (the 35mm Pan) and would cost $399. These sold for $399 new, I paid $299 as it was a run out item.

$200 plus postage

Both EPs come with original caps and boxes. The Meade box is a little worse for wear but still OK.

I will be bringing both items to Snake Valley on the weekend (Friday and Saturday nights) so if you want to try them out and save postage come along.

Reason for sale. I am upgrading to Ethos EPs and finding they are not being used.

Malcolm, after viewing through the Meade in my own scope at Snake Valley I am just negotiating with the wife. I would not even be doing that if our hot water service had not popped recently, causing a big dollar change to a top flight solar setup, without much by way of rebate at all as we were going from gas not electric! :-( If no one snaps it up in the mean time I will get back to you on it in the next day or so, but don't hold it for me if someone wants it first.

I would really, really love a Nagler 31 as I had a view through one in my own scope t Heathcote recently, all to briefly unfortunately as the ASV quickly purloined it to slip into the 25" Obsession when they found out it was on the field! But the Meade was a really nice combo with my scope too.

Hey Paul.
The 31 Nag is a beast of an eyepiece, just really pricey!
Are you going to SV camp this weekend? If it is still available I will have it with me and you can have another look through it!

I have sent you a PM also

I will speak to the minister for finance in the morning (at a meeting tonight) and get back to you.

Not able to get to SV unfortunately, got something on on the other side of melb.

Lightning delivery Malcolm. I reckon it is at the post office (got the card)

The one night this week I did not get home before the PO closes! Good thing ours is open on a Saturday morning.

Picked the SWA up this morning thanks Malcolm. Safe and sound.

Though I did give myself a brief scare. I looked through it and had a "WTF is that" moment. Turned out to be a tiny cobweb across the field stop! That meant it was in focus at the eyelens! Quick wave of a cotton bud and all sorted.

Looking forward to making use of it.

I did check the EP before popping in it's box, so sorry if that ended up there. Let me know how it goes!

All good, spiders will get in to all sorts of places and there is not much you can do about it.

EP is exactly as I remember it, I got about twenty minutes with it last night at home, too damp this week so the corrector plate was fogged in no time but I did get a chance to have a peek at M42 and the Eta Carina area with it before everything went white. I really must do something about a dew heater setup soon.
