Hello all
for those that may not be aware of this quite excellent ASC, I have uploaded a link to the one being using at my observatory in Yass, NSW.

http://www.martinpughastrophotography.id.a u/Yass_ASC.htm which refreshes every 10mins during dark hours.

Compared to much more expensive alternatives, this camera is $420 for the PAL version, and you need the uploaded kit if you want that functionality, which is an extra $95. The camera fits perfectly on a standard Satellite Dish bracket.

If you want any additional info, feel free to PM me.

Nice one Martin, this unit fits the bill in functionality and price very well compared to other units out there.

Thanks for sharing!

Martin

Did you mount yours on a Satellite Dish bracket? If so where did you get the bracket from?

For the money this is a very good piece of equipment that has already proven useful many times since I got mine a few weeks ago. With the current ongoing crap weather in SE cloudland you just have to take some chances inbetween clouds etc if you want to do any astronomy. Having the BOM infrared & rain maps running is fine but nothing like sitting in the warm/mozzie room and seeing whats above you AND on the horizon outside.
Fits on a 1.8 metre TV antennae J Pole. These are around $20 at Mitre 10. You may need longer bolts and some foam padding like draft eliminator or some silicon to seal between camera and J pole as there is a small gap between them.

I acquired my Satellite J Pole in the U.S when I was there, and the ASC just slips on to it perfectly. I see that the one Peter describes needs a little work.
