Hi everyone
With my 10 inch scope's mirror with Qhi Qin co in Campsie being aluminised/overcoated I cant do any imagign with it so got this old makeshift wooden mounting setup where I can put on my 6 inch F3.6 meade Cometracker Schmidt newtonian and an old "Kmart Special" ex Halleys Comet 3 inch cadadioptric guidescope onto my 10 inches "Sampson" mount. This is the first time Ive used the modded 350D with the 6 inch.

First shot is M42, 2 x 240 sec ISO 200
Next is Eta carina, 2 x 90 sec ISO 1600. Both using UHCS filter and processing by Iris , Photoshop and Noiseware. Sky was over 50% cloudy, I was shooting in between breaks, and thats what limited my exposure times with Eta carina, as well as M42 (I would have gone longer with more exposures if clear.
I cant use my coma corrector on this scope as the cleap n nasty focusser 2 inch adaptor it came with wont grip it firmly enough, so there is some coma present.

Very nice !

The coma is fairly obvious but I love widefield shots :)
No image of m42 is complete without the outer nebulous loop feature ;)

:eyepop: WOW they are very nice images.

If I were you I would modify Comet Tracker and make it accept the Baader Coma Corrector!!

With such a lovely wide field, objects like Trifid and Lagoon will be awesome.

Thanks all.
Yes I will have to see about getting a better 2 inch eyepiece holder attachment that will firmly hold the Coma Corrector. It may not remove all the coma because F3.6 is a little under its lower limit but may get rid of most of it.
I was only using it to fill in while the 10 inch is down but I might use it on stuff like the Lagoon and Triffid.

Hi Scott. What Paul said. He beat me to it! Perhaps even some tape around the MPCC to thicken it a little.

This little coment tracker has a LOT of potential! You can't beat fast optics!

Thanks.
I might have a fiddle today and see what I can do re holding the mpcc firmly.
Indeed I cant wai for the opportunity to image the Lagoon and Triffid nebulas

Scott fantastic capture. I downloaded your M42 and "played" around with it in photoshop elements and found there is a wealth of additional detail there, the loop was very easy to bring out.

Thanks :)
Yes I must have another play with it too, and see what detail I can coax out.
