Well, I had a bit of a lash with the C9.25 & the toucam.
I'll leave it up to the experts to tell me wots wrong with the image. On the laptop it was coming in & out of focus but when it was in focus it was rather soft looking. I assume a combo of seeing, insuficient cooldown time & collimation, yes? Had collimation sweet at 313X And then plonked the barlow & the same EP in giving me 626X & it looked pretty darn good to me!:eyepop:

A 2X series 4000 APO Meade. And thanks mate. Lot of learning to do yet before I get good shots. Collimation mainly, although I think I'm not far off.

Not too shabby for a "test image"! I'd say your new scope passed the test. ;)
Yep. Looks about right Asi. Similar to my images with the same OTA.
I think you're right when you refer to the softness of the image and the likely culprits. I'm working on it, too!!!

Nice one asi! I reckon the seeing let you down is all. Can't wait for you to get a good night!

Thanks guys. Collimation was pretty easy, I was dreading that bit actually after reading so much about it. No bobs knobs as yet but was easy with a screw driver. I had to tweak 2 screws to get good concentric rings at 313X. 10 X easier than trying to get collimated on the 12.5" Parks newt.
A CAT cooler is my next priority...building it not buying it.
180 stacked Dave.
A screwdriver near the corrector???:scared:

It's not a problem Matt if one is careful :)

Asi, I got some shorty collimation knobs from scopestuff. If you're thinking of other stuff (e.g. dew strap, SLR adapters etc) it would be worth ordering from them. Not a bad image though, a bit soft but there's heaps of contrast and good detail despite that.
Your carefull-ness was never in question ... oh Careful Asi...
But the horror stories involving screwdrivers and corrector plates are many and tragic!!!
Was more having a laff than anything else, ol' chum. Although certainly a valuable tip for the less initiated than your good self:)
acropolite makes a good point about how easy they make life if you're attaching other odds and sods
Still a good first image Asi. I'd reckon the main hurdle to overcome with the 9.25 will be cooling it down, being a closed tube and all...
cheers, Bird

Yes Anthony, my thought too. My first priority is a cooler. I saw a really easy do it youself project on a site the other night, I'll see if I can find it again & post the link just in case someone wants to build their own.

Hi Asi, this one almost slipped me by. Well done! You should be happy with that for a first go (or 2nd or third). I'd say cooling like Bird is probably the biggest thing. You need it out for at least an hour before imaging and if temp is moving fast then I guess your coolers come into play.
cheers mate
looks ok asi... i could do better tho :P
nice work for a test :)
