South Pacific Star Party 19th - 22nd April

Dear IIS'ers,

I would like to welcome you all to register for the 20th South Pacific Star Party. This year we will be holding the event over four days, from Thursday 19th - Sunday 22nd April. We have some great speakers lined up as well as the usual competitions and prize giveaways. A new competition, the Scott Mellish Memorial Sketching Competition has been added, which is open to astronomical sketchers from all over the world.

Registrations Close on the 11th April. Please register early to take advantage of the early registration discount.

$75 for an Individual or $105 for a Family registrations and all ASNSW Members receive a $25 discount.

Astroimaging Competition

The rules for the Astroimaging competition (http://members.asnsw.com/starparty/astroimaging) are posted on the ASNSW web site.

This year we have a special prize sponsored by Finger Lakes Instruments.

Anyone who enters the South Pacific Star Party Astro imaging competition will go into the running to win an FLI Microline 8300 CCD Camera, donated by Finger Lakes Instruments. The winner will be decided by random draw on that Saturday afteroon of the Star Party from all entrants in the competition. Please read the entry terms and conditions carefully as eny entries which do not meet the criteria will be rejected and not eligibile for the prize draw.


Sketching Competition


The rules for the Sketching Competition (http://members.asnsw.com/sketching_competition) are posted on the ASNSW web site.

The Scott Mellish Amateur Sketching or Drawing Competition will be held annually at the South Pacific Star Party and aims to promote the art of sketching and drawing within the world-wide amateur astronomical community.

The competition is open to any member of an amateur astronomical society throughout the world and will be judged by popular vote during the star party on the 21st April 2012. Winners will be announced on the day.

A reminder that registration for SPSP 2012 will close on 11th April.

If you have not already registered, please do so as soon as possible. Note that on-site registrations will attract a $10 late registration fee and you will not be illegible for the Saturday prize draw.
