Got a brief clear patch yesterday, which allowed me to capture a bit of Sun in white light.

The jetstream was roaring along, but from some long videos I managed to get a few reasonably detailed stacked images. There is an interesting active region on the limb, I wonder if any of the Ha observers saw any prominences from this region?

All images with a C6SE, Baader solarfilm full aperture filter, DMK21AU04 camera. Images 1 and 2 with Teleview 2.5x Powermate.

Hi Ivan
Great stuff - the large sunspot rounding the limb looks promising!

Nice work Ivan. I'm setup for this kind of work too. I've yet to pull the trigger on nice seeing, so I'm a bit disillusioned with this kind of work right now. I'll get good seeing one day I hope!

Rob, Thanks for the compliment.

Matt, It does look promising. I hope someone with Ha posts an image if there is anything being ejected. Don't suppose you have got a gap in the clouds?

John, I find imaging the sun more forgiving of seeing. There is so much light available you can use a really short exposure time, and because of slow rotation, you can use a really long video. Also, you can use a deep red filter (although didn't use one in this case).

P.S. these videos stacked with AS2! It's become my first port of call for stacking.

Thanks Ivan. Yes, I think it's just the appalling seeing here on the coast during the day in my area in general. In fact I know this, as I obviously image during the day as well as night.

I use an R filter & have cut back on the C11 aperture with a mask, so now it's just about waiting for that daytime good seeing fluke.

Some nice detail there Ivan

Thanks Derek, that's AS!2 in gradient mode doing a good job of picking the 15% of decent frames from a wobbly lot.
