I used to have a plastic bottle of aeroguard that worked well but I've run out of it. It was a white spread, non greasy , like sunscreen. Now it seems that it's only sold as rolls or spray. I tried them both and the first night I was a freakin banquet for all the mozzies. They don't work at all (on me?) and they stink of alcohol or what not. They make me cough. That bad. Do you guys know of anything similar to the old aeroguard that works? Do they still do the old type? TIA.

Go for the Bushmans.
Works a treat out here.

Bushmans is good unless like me you have a reaction to DEET. Then for a week after spraying the stuff on, you break out in inchieness thats worse than the mozzies in the first place.
I now use OFF. No aerosol spray, just pressure pump, and no reaction. Keeps the mozzies away too :)

If you have a look at the "Rid" and "Aerogard" labels they have very much the same active ingredients. I have recently seen Rid in a white emulsion type. That may be worth trying.

+1 for the bushmans. When I go bush it is the only one that seems to do the trick. It comes in two strengths. I try to avoid the heavy duty one unless I know I will be eaten alive.

Bushmans is effective. I have been told not to use it on kids.
I am not fully satisfied of the safety issues with it.
I have used it in the past and inadvertently allowed some over spray onto a painted surface. The paint bubbled.
That may be the "carrier oil" meeting the acrylic paint which will cause the bubbling.
Use with care.

I agree. Never been that happy about applying a product with DEET onto my skin. It is used sparingly and as a last resort.

I once had a tube of Bushman break inside my backpack and it melted through the reasonably thick liner of my camera bag. I do still like and use the product, but it makes you wonder!

Geez... you guys are scaring me now. What's this DEET? The bushman tubes seem to be the way to go by the sound of it.

i think deet is just the active ingredient in the repellent.
i'm sure a google search will provide a few results.

Thanks, yeah found it on Wikipedia. Doesn't sound that bad. I'll try the bushman stuff next time. I just don't like the spray/roll-ons. Just the gel stuff.
