Hello,
I have a 3m length of train rail track.
Would this be suitable as a telescope pedestal ?
The scope would be something in the C11 range (celestron/mead 10-12" cat)
predominantly visual observing, possibly photography in the future.
Thinking of digging in the bottom 2m or so of the train track, possibly concrete slab at ground level, funds permitting.
Just wondering if this would be dead enough, or better to go with a steel tube filled with sand?
The pedestal would be permanent in the yard, no shed/observatory/cover
The budget is "uni student" equivalent, so the cheapest functional option is preferred.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks
