Another of the Boston Globe's BigPicture series, and a fairly poignant reminder of long-lasting effects of this accident. Reputedly, the plant wasn't built with any effective contingency plans in place. People are erroneously drawing parallels between it and Fukushima, which suffered far greater catastrophe before it fell.

I won't say "enjoy", but it's interesting nonetheless.

Are the flood waters causing you any trouble at Cooma?

I'm sitting here in my house in Sydney thinking that I really should be there. Apart from helping locals, I'd like to see that my place is OK or not. My block is located at the fork of the Murrumbidgee River and Peak Creek - and it wouldn't take four or five metres to do damage. The river runs through my place and is usually fast enough to create permanent rapids, so flooding is usually rather spectacular. I have a next-door neighbour looking out for it all this weekend, and he'll keep me informed. Thanks for the concern Stu.
Chris,
all the best with the mighty Murrumbidgee.
These are amazing photos and a sober reminder of a disaster the world has largely forgotten.
thanks for posting
