:welcome:
Newly built chicken coop. solid construction such as one piece floor and nesting box and waterproof (well tested lately!). Don't buy some flimsy kit crap of eBay.
Also 2 Isa Browns started laying about 5-6 weeks ago and have not failed to lay an egg each since after 1st week of laying, amazing.
Also 2 Gold layced wyandottes which should start to lay in about 4 weeks i believe. ALL purebred.
Also brand new feeder.
I laughed when the GF suggested i make her a coup, why do we want chickens!? well if not having to move into a unit would absolutely keep my gals and expand to a huge flock. These are incredibly smart (far more than i anticipated) and friendly pets. 'Helga' one of the Isa's runs up to me in the yard and likes a pat/pick up. they are real characters and highly recommend it.
Reasonable offers considered but must be before 22nd of March.

All offers considered and likely. Would much prefer this to go to a family with kids than these girls be butchered and coop scrapped. Would consider free in a couple of weeks time btw.....
So save this lovely ladies :P

It's seriously a long shot that I could help but two questions........:
Can the coup be "knocked down" for transporting?
How much space would be a desired minimum outside the coup for the girls?

I've got 5 chooks in an modest city suburban block. Their run is one metre by 6 metres, which is plenty. They can be kept in less, much less. Their original run was one metre by 3m, and we expanded it when we cleared some more overgrowth in the yard. Every now and then we let them loose on the lawn - they poop everywhere, but the kids have a ball "poop collecting" afterwards, .
They eat just about everything, and go totally nuts over any meat!
If you can give them a run anything over 2sqm, then they'll be fine.
There are a few magazine publications about chook raising that make good reading that can be had from good news agents.
We've had our 5 chooks for over a year now. An average of 4 eggs a day, and chook pooh enriched compost to boot.
The only thing is you need to keep on top of cleaning out their pen, and especially their coup - man they crap a lot, and pest rodents can be attacted to the food scraps. You'll also need to make sure where the coup sits is fox proof. No kidding, the buggers will dig several inches under a fence to get to the birds.
I would have loved to take these birds, but 9 chooks would just be too much for us where I live, :( . Not that there would be too many eggs - egg diplomacy works wonders with neighbours and family, ;) .

Been trying to convince 'the better half' what a great idea this would be but, she claims to be afraid of chooks...?

:eyepop: Amazing!... They're way much cleaner than my two white peking ducks. With the weather of late I call them browny and browner, since my backyard looks like the Maginot line on a rainy day.

Hey sorry mate I missed your questions. It would have to be cut which would be easy - I could do it for you. then easily bolted back together. have some spare timber and will show you how'd id suggest putting back.
I let these girls run free in the yard and don't even bother closing the door at night, they go in on their own around dusk. If they get eaten by a fox well least they lived free is my thinking.
The eggs are amazing they really are.
I would be prepared to give away if required but genuinly need any cash one could spare for it.

Had another talk to the better half and while we both want to eventually have some poultry, I have to agree that now is not the right time..........:(
