Mars & Saturn Feb 24th UT, in good to very good seeing

Hi All,
Imaged Mars & Saturn this morning in good to very good seeing again . The temperature was still 27C at 2am local and it was quiet windy. The seeing for Mars was slightly better than on the previous morning, the live feed was very stable. Have attached 1 RGB & 807nm IR data set.
When I moved on to Saturn my first data set was very good but then the seeing dropped off noticeably for about 2 hrs before again becoming very stable indeed. My best Saturn captures were thus hours apart. Have attached 2 RGB data sets that were approx 2 hrs apart.
I continue to be most impressed with Emil's, most excellent Autostakkert 2

Some more superb images. The detail on Mars is fabulous. Really enjoying following this, the seeing seems to have been passed on from Asimov to you.

The first Saturn is amazingly crisp. I reckon the second one might be even better, but seems to have some layer registration issue? Only noticeable if you blink the two, but truly, some amazing images.

Yeah, the batten has been passed on, & Trevor & the 16" have picked it up faultlessly..

Didn't get the same level of seeing down at Clayton. Seeing was ok but nothing to compare with this data. Lovely Saturn images Trev. Colour and sharp contrast is very nice.:thumbsup:

Thanks very much Paul, you must have been on the lower edge of that body of stable air. Initially, with the quiet warm Northerly wind, I thought it would be pretty ordinary up here but it turned out pretty similar to the previous morning.

Those are just what I dream of Mars is so detailed and Saturns smoothness and the deep Encke, just a pity it was not consistent.

Trevor, have you stretched your latest data sets out, (Saturn) looking for moons yet? I was quite surprised when I did this with some of mine..Moons all over the place..:)

Thanks very much John, if the conditions at the start & end of the Saturn session had held up for the whole time, as it did for the previous morning, it would have made for a killer Saturn animation. Still, it was great to get some more quality data to play with.

To be honest Asi, I just have not had the time. This run of good seeing also happened to coincide with a some other stuff that I had to deal with but I am sure I will be going over this data again at some point. By the way, I noticed in Pauls thread you were having problems with As2 regarding the "C" ring. I don't use gamma, I leave the gamma setting unchecked in FireCapture on its default value, I run high gain, max for the "B" channel. I see the "C" ring in the live feed and have had no probs with post processing losing it.

Thanks Trevor. No, gamma has been at default except for some early Febuary runs. I was getting globe ringing from using gamma on a fair % of my captures & so dropped back on gamma.
