I have had a windows box hanging off the TV for years now. I've been using it as a file/mail/web server and pvr/bluray player for the home network for a long long time without issue. The primary raid array has finally failed so I'm looking to reconfigure everything.

I'll move the PC back to a pure server and push it into a cupboard upstairs, so I've ordered a samsung C-5500 blu ray player to play physical disks and stream stuff from the PC but I still need a PVR to replace the PC.

Does anyone know of one that has 4 tuners in it? The boss was constantly requesting recordings that conflicted with other stuff and I think moving from a twin tuner to a quad tuner would solve that problem.

Does anyone know of a quad tuner digital PVR? Is there such a beast?

Hi,

Yes, if you have deep pockets  The Tivo Premier Elite.

Edit: no, wait, not yet in Oz (if ever).

A thread about it

We have a Topfield it will record 4 programs but only if you are recording 2 chanels from say seven and 2 from say nine. But I recomend Topfield I have owned 3 and only replaced them to get more features. We got ours for about $400

Sounds like a no.

Might be easier to just get another dual tuner card (already got one) and bang both into a tiny PC.

What about 2 of these at $167 each ?

HDHomeRun in the US lists 6 and 8 channel models, but two of the 2 channel ones could do the trick - record or stream to any PC

I can get another cheap dual tuner card for about $60 and build a pc out of junk.

Good old windows pc's, you can get em to do anything :)

Is there really that much on tele that is watchable, let alone worth recording?

Cheers,
Jason.

Not for me, I have nothing programmed, I download all my shows. You'd never see them otherwise. Finder is a new one you won't see here.

But the boss wants to record everything?
