Hi,
Still playing around with my new setup, and waiting for some cool nights and better seeing.
Couldn't wait so I imaged M64, the heat was problem, even at 4.30 am. I took a total of 24 images before sunrise, only 14 were ok.
Equipement.
Telescope 8" f/4.
Mount HEQ 5 pro mount,
Camera Canon 1100D unmodded.
14 X 120 sec subs, unguided. Still waiting for my auto guider!!!!:mad2:
11 dark frames.
11 bias frames.
One flat frame.
Stacked in DSS, processed in Photoshop.
Iv'e cropped the image as much as I dare, it was pretty small on the original frames.
Cheers,
Justin.

That has come out prity good Justin, showing detail within the galaxy. You will have it made when the auto guider arrives. All the best.

A mighty fine result Justin, showing some good ringing arms within. I Like It !
How do you find the 1100D, does it do sequence exposures via the lappy and the EOS facility ?

Hi, Bob.

I like the 1100D, easy to use and priced well.
A good camera for me to start with.

The EOS utility is great, again easy to use. I operate the camera from my observatory hut via usb. It allows to me keep out of the observatory to reduce heat currents in the scope.

Thanks,

Justin.
