Saxon 25412 telescope on EQ5 eq mount with go-to for approx $2200. There are a few of these on eBay. And yes I know it is eBay. But to answer my question. What would this telescope be like for astro photography.

I have looked at Andrews web site and there seams to be some great deals on there at the moment, but with a 8inch scope. I think celesteron was the brand.

What are people's opinions on these setups for astrophotography for a beginner. I'd probably be looking at a digital camera to plug straight into a laptop to record and save images.

By the way. Primary photos will be for DSO's

Thanks in advance. Jase

Hi Jase
Im not an expert on these but it looks nice and all but i think for the extra $200 you would pay at Andrews and get a longer warranty and free freight, not to mention EQ6PRO "Go-To" mount and
"Go-To" SynScan hand controller is a far better choice, well that my 2 cents worth. oh and welcome to IIS :hi:

cheers

Graeme.

Thanks graham. I'm never keen on eBay. Especially for high end items like this. Andrews would be the safest way to go. The thread was more to get an idea between these two scopes especially being that Saxon has 2 inches over the celestron

Well saxon is sky watcher, just australian distribution. So if you google sky watcher model and review it may help alot. I would go saxon/sky watcher over celestron brand wise, but you haven't given any models to compare.

I would go a 10" or 12" newt on a eq6 with that sort of coin :) then prey for no breeze hahaha
