Hi, I have a very good condition flat screen Sony Trinitron CRT TV with an HD tube - this gives it an effective resolution of 1250 lines vs std TVs 576 so it gives a very very good picture with SD or DVD signals (in effect it upscales to HD).

It is large and heavy so pickup would be required.

Would be an awful shame to dump/scrap it - happy to hear of alternates - clubhouse TV, etc)

I'm sure someone will take it, but you can't donate a CRT to charity anymore - they will only accept flatscreens, less than 5yo.

They rejected a 10yo TV from us last year during the floods - surely someone would have appreciated a TV, even it it was just to get them by for a while until they could upgrade to a new model.

I'll get off my cereal box now and leave your ad thread alone.

I was in the same position as you only just a few months ago. Same tv by the sounds of it too. Hubby took it to the dump as he got sick of it taking up room and figured it would be a struggle to give it away. I suggested just leaving it on the footpath but he'd already planned the dump trip that weekend.
Crying shame.

I hope you find a home for it. ;)

Do you have the model number? I know some people in Sydney that might be interested.

These televisions were over $2000 when they were new (ouch!) They were made in Japan unlike the other Sony televisions and are DCR 1250 progressive. It has stereo and surround sound capability and many input options (component, svideo, digital audio (coax) included) PIP and Teletext also.

I really do not want to put it out for scrap. It would need an STB these days (I had it connected up to Foxtel)...

John,

put it on your front verge with a sign saying...

"Great working order. $50 ono - apply within".

It will be gone within half a day - guaranteed. And by inference, to someone who thinks its worth having since they've gone to the trouble of pinching it
