I recently purchased a Northgroup ED127 from the Iceinspace classifieds and looked forward to getting some wide angle love.... as is the way I had 2 weeks of Cr ** (less than optimal weather)... But never fear I said to myself I have 3 weeks of Holiday coming just at the time of new moon so I will be able to get non stop Astro joy! The result of course is 10 days now of smoke haze with brief moments in the clear. On sunday I finally managed one night of clear skies (before the fire flared up again this week) but I've been away in the winefields of Margaret River so I have just processed the results.

Quick and dirty polar align guided with Orion SSAG + Orion miniguide scope

IC2944 ED127 QHY10 @ -20 12 X 600secs no darks or flats, CCDStack, PS4

NGC4945 ED127 QHY10 @ -20 2 X 600secs no darks or flats, CCDStack, PS4

A very quick grab of 20 mins only as I had to drive to the country in a few hours time!

Feedback is very welcome, thanks for looking

Paul

Very nice. I've noticed many images of NGC4945 have blue halos around those bright stars, including mine (http://deepspaceplace.com/show.php?id=ngc4945) taken with a relfector. Is it some type of reflection nebulosity?

Thanks James,
I've noticed this too and it would be interesting to know if it's reflection or just because of relative brightness/processing.
All the best
