Hi folks,

I've got myself a beautiful Gstar video camera to use on outreach nights with my C8. I've also got a 0.5X focal reducer that sits in front of the chip. Works fine, but the FOV with larger objects, it isn't wide enough.

Other than getting another scope, is there some other way of increasing the FOV with this SCT/video camera combination? Would using one of these f/6.3 focal reducers infront of the diagonal & the 0.5X reducer together work?

Cheers,

Mental.

There is file on the mallincam user group entitled 'Focal Reduction for dummies' if you do a quick google for it, it has all manner of options laid out to achieve various focal reductions.
It is for the Mallincam, but it all should apply. I'll post it here if I am allowed.

Your other option is to go the hyperstar route and mount the camera at the corrector plate, it works a treat, even with the C8, but isn't cheap!
