It arrived! Lunt80Ha scope

Yeah, new toy arrived during the week (I had to go to Melbourne so I have just started to play - no Sun as it is night time....but tomorrow morning.....).
I am like a kid in a candy store. I am a big fan of my Lunt60 so I am looking forward to first light!
I will of course share my impressions and images.

I'm jealous - for two reasons. My budget wouldn't stretch to an 80; so my 60 arrived while I was on the school run and by the time I returned home the depot had shut for the weekend!!! :doh:

I did not go for the DS (maybe later on). I still have my Lunt60 DS but I rarely use it in that configuration while imaging as I found the exposure had to increase and frame rates decreased.
I had a ten minute visual with it this morning (blasted clouds) and I was impressed immediately. Looking forward to some clear skies soon!

Well done Matt, but I suspect we will all be selling our solar gear in five to seven years for a song. If the next cycle does not fire it could be curtains for solar viewing. No high latitude meridinal flows at present will probably mean no sunspots next cycle.

I went with the B1800 - apparently better for imaging!?
I did mange a few first light pics on Sunday but conditions were so poor I was a touch embarrassed with the results (I know this will be a super scope under good conditions - the 60 was more forgiving!)

Hi Paul - it is looking a tad bleak - but we have the Venus transit and a partial this year - they will be fun......as for the future, who knows! We have only really been looking at the Sun for 400 years!?
