Oops, Amazon got it wrong!
I had a purchase arrive from Amazon, only to find the box completely empty! :eyepop: Still sealed, but just empty.
I have used Amazon for many years and this is the first time this has happened. There notification system left little to be desired in this instance. It had no real way of informing them of this situation. All other situation were covered, but not an empty box. Had to use missing parts, but they insisted then that I return the item with the missing parts. Huh? There was no other choices.
I was wondering if anyone else experienced this?
I believe it is now sorted, but will have to wait and see.

I've brought dozens of items from Amazon over the years, but I can't say I've ever had that issue. Only issue I've had was years ago when a DVD I purchased arrived with the case crushed (it was a special collector's edition as well) but the DVD was fine. Amazon sent a replacement, no return/proof required.
Was it purchased through the Amazon marketplace (3rd party seller) or was it "Fulfilled by Amazon" (stored and sent from an Amazon warehouse)?

 I got a lot of that when My mum used to post me pate and foie gras for Xmas. Looks like the custom officers liked the stuff more than I did.

My workplace purchased a flow cytometer just prior to Xmas; I think it was just under $100k worth, and the supplier proceeded to ship a large empty crate to us!

It was from the Amazon warehouse. I guess there is a first time for everything. Amazon have advised that they have sent a replacement. :D

Wow, how embarrassing! Mine was only a pen worth $30, but to mistake packing something worth 100k, unbelievably! Didn't they weigh it after packing it, or does it just weigh nothing?

A few weeks back I ordered a text for an SAO course on the History of Astronomy - I received a short History of Modern Art instead
Close, but no cigar
I sent it back and have been assured that a replacement (ie the correct text) is on its way

In all my many purchases from Amazon, I've only had 2 problems:
One book had colour streaks on some page, probably a printing problem. A replacement was sent using priority shipping.
Out of an order of about 10 blu-rays, "The Pacific" didn't make it in the box. A new one was sent immediately (can't remember if it was priority again).
All in all, I was quite happy with their customer service in these instances.

Identical situation happened to me around 12 months ago. Amazon support were very good about the situation.

I think it is Amazon that is taking the bad, as they are so helpful assuring that you have a good experience. It is comforting to know that an Internet company backs you fully. :)

I was embarrassed for them..
I think the delivery guy was like "wow don't even need a trolley".
My colleague who purchased it and went to unwrap his new toy would have fallen over backwards:lol:

How do you send missing parts back?
I know what they mean, but it sure is worded badly :P

Correct me if I am wrong, should'nt there be a number on the delivery docket that identifies the employee that packed the item. If not I stand corrected.:)

Amazon track the packages very well... if the "part" was missing, Amazon will track down the person who packed it and have a few choice words with them...
While I was back in the states a few people told me of people bending the system as a way to make a few extra bucks...
For example... Shops that have a 70% discount now only allow returns for 3 calendar days... why? because people were buying up all of the discounted items and putting them on eBay before the originally allowed 30 days were up... if they didn't sell them in 30 days, they would return them for a full refund.
That's American ingenuity...
