Chris, I have the 80mm on the Mary Rose, and it is superb. I use a 16mm Nagler with it, and it provides fantastic wide field views of large OCs, and is excellent for star hopping purposes. Enjoy!

G'day Rod,

Yes, I've read some reviews of the 80mm, which is why I jumped when I saw it.
Denise and I have scored some free accommodation in Palm Cove the week of the solar eclipse in November and have been thinking about a grab and go scope that would fit in hand luggage, this will be perfect!
So now I've got a finder for the Dob, a stand alone RFT, and the grab and go, very happy!

Long time no see by the way, how are the kids?

Cheers

Chris

Hey Chris - great thinking re the versatility of the 80mm finder, and in particular taking it up for the solar eclipse. Just be aware that on VERY bright objects, there can be some light scatter. It's not a Tele Vue refractor by any means, but for its price, it is a great buy.

Kids are great. They are growing like Bamboo. Jack is now almost my height, and he has my shoe size. One of the benefits of his phenomenal growth is that he is now able to help me lift the mirror box in and out of the boot of my car!
