Hi all,
May be the last image from this scope if my sale goes through.

From Monday night...

100mins of data (10x10min subs) - bit too noisy for my liking. Need a lot more subs I think to do this object justice.

GSO RC8 + AP CCD 0.67x reducer (FL = 1088mm @ f5.3), iso1600
Canon Astro 40D + IDAS LPS2 filter
HEQ5 Pro mount

Thanks Trevor - agreed, but ran out of time. Moon and clouds helped too!

Hi Doug,

Great photo.

Is it full frame?

Ross.

Doug
At what spacing did you have the ccd67 from the chip, assuming that the fr takes up 16 mm of the distance? Was it at 101mm as recommended?
Great photo of M78 by the way, something I may attempt in the near future if the rain and clouds will just go away.
Thanks, Allan

Yep Ross - cropped to remove a bit of star curvature on the right hand side and cropped a bit more to exclude some dust motes as I didn't do flats:rolleyes:

Thanks Allan - I used the reducer without the 7mm Baader spacer on this one, so not as recommended.
Seems to work both ways with perhaps a bit of vignetting without the spacer in place.
Cheers

This is a tough object to image. I found that I had to do a lot of integration to just to get the noise to an acceptable level. Good effort on it and I reckon if you double up the data you have now, you will start to get rid of all the noise.

Nice Doug. Good colour in the stars as well for a DSLR and 10 min subs. This image might lose a bit of impact at 200mm:lol:

Thanks Paul - more subs would do the trick but are unlikely as I've just sold the scope (sale pending!:P)

Thankyou Warren:thumbsup:

Oh you can scoff Craig!! But I've been looking at the 135mm f2L lately!!!;)

Hey Doug, this is ok, I think you have nailed the colours.

Yeh a bit of noise but not objectionable to me  takinmg hours and hours of data isn't 100% fun everytime you image, sometimes an image is an image...soul

I'll have to add this to my list of "to do" when (I hope) I get back home.

135mm F2 eh? I was eyeballing one just down from me in Tokyo but the exchange rate is average at the moment. I have the 50mm and 200mm and realised a big gap so I got a 85mm (why oh why did I do that?) and I think the 135mm would really complement the 200mm for those where you need just a little wider.

And nice image too btw Doug!
