Hello people. I am new to this forum. I was right into stargazing when I was a kid, then I sort of got diverted away from it but now I want to dive back in again!

Normally I'm in WA and will try to check out the local astronomy club scene there soon but at the moment I'm in New Zealand for a three month 'working holiday' thing. Actually I am helping sort out the NZ branch of the family business after the earthquake in Christchurch.

Are there any Kiwis here at Iceinspace and if there are do you know of any good spots for a bit of astronomy in the Christchurch area? I don't mind driving for an hour or three to get to good sites or star parties and club meets. And are there any clubs in Christchurch? Sorry if I seem lazy but I just got here. :)

Hi Mick, should be plenty down near you. Mt St John over by Wanaka has abig Ob up on the hill. Google and you'll find it, not sure how it fits with your driving times.
Don't know about clubs etc down there as I'm up in Auckland but there are several members on here from dowm that way. Might want to retitle your post to get their attention.
