Nothing for us to see.
See http://skyandtelescope.com/observing/objects/eclipses/article_1701_1.asp for the full eclipse map.

Its going to be seen in Egypt (Western egypt on the boarder of another country that I cant remember) and Turkey and parts of Russia too.
We will not see any part of this eclispe in Australia AFAIK.

G'day Vindictive,
The eclipse will be happening at about 8:30pm AEST. So that means we will see stuff all I'm afraid. My boss has gone over to Libya to see the eclipse where (clouds permitting) he will see 4 minutes of totality. The path of the Moon's shadow will then cross the Libyan coast, very close to the border with Egypt, go across the Med. and then into Turkey and beyond.
Peter.

Saw one in Europe (total) a few years ago - eerie. Certainly worth travelling for but Libya is the LAST place I would go to see one - brave man - good luck to him! And seriously - anybody that gets a chance to view one - don't miss it.

It was in 1999 if I'm correct. It sure was beautiful but total for me :). At that time I was at the coast so the eclips was something like 96%.
Anyway, in about 2 and a half hours I'm of to Italy for 8 days and there I can enjoy a partial eclips (something like 50% or so). I'll post some pics when I'm back so you guys can see what you've missed ;).

G'day All,
Got a message from my boss who went to Libya to see the event. His quote is below:
"Great success with the eclipse today. Perfect weather and thousands of foreign viewers and many locals 150 km south of Tobruk. Locals separated from us, although they appeared on the horizon like an Apache advance at totality."
Lucky bloke!
Peter.
