The Hunger Games

I am about half way the third book of the Hunger Games trilogy and really enjoying it....can't wait to see how it ends!...so far I avoided reading the final pages.

It will be interesting how they re-create certain passages in the movie that will open on March 23rd. The Hunger Games is one of the most anticipated movies for 2012. The author, Susan Collins also wrote the screenplay so I expect the movie will follow very much the original story.

With Jennifer Lawrence, Lenny Kravitz, Liam Hemsworth, Elisabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci and Woody Harrelson.

I have just started the first book. I am only a couple of chapters in but am enjoying it so far. I didnt realise there was a movie coming out. I had better get reading then!

Bringing this thread back to life, since I saw the Hunger Games on the weekend.

I haven't read the books, but my wife has and loved them.

Like all movies turned into books, she liked the books better, but I really enjoyed the movie and can't wait to see what happens next.

I'm even contemplating reading the trilogy now.

Anyone else seen it?

Went to see it yesterday. I knew very little about it, and It was my wife that wanted to see it. I didn't even know there were 3 books until the movie ended. Must say though, I thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so that I am contemplating reading the books....and I'm not a book person! My only negative was there was alot of closeup shaky camera work. If you go and see it, sit towards the back of the theatre if you suffer from motion sickness.

We saw it at Nelson Bay Cinema - we had to sit closer to the screen to actually feel like it was a cinema.

At the back, it felt like it was just a big screen TV :)

I agree with you John.


I saw it in the back row of a Vmax theatre and after the first half hour I felt nauseas.
I guess I’m a bit like David on At The Movies, the hand held camera work just isn’t my thing.
Apart from that, it was a fairly good movie.

Haven't read the trilogy but my son and his mother have read them and the family went and watched the movie on Saturday and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The whole Big Brother thing, at least that was my impression, of orchastrating, manipulating and watching everything we do is the cautionary tale.
Will definitely have to read the series now before the sequels hit the screen and i've encouraged my son to read Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, I think he may get something out of that book as well.
Love sitting down near the front in the cinema so that the screen fills the field of view.

I just finished reading the Hunger Games trilogy.

I did enjoy the books, but I thought #1 was the best out of the 3. I'm interested to see how they do the movies for #2 and #3, what they leave in/take out.
