Here's a stratrail I took over the weekend in central Victoria.

ISO 100 and f-stop maybe about 7 or 8. I don't know how long it ran for because I feel asleep and woke up afdter the battery had run out!

There's a huge amount of red noise in the full size version - particularly in the dark of the trees which I've never seen before and not sure what caused it. I wonder if taking a dark foe the same length of time would eliminate it?

I still think film produced much smoother trails than my DSLR does.

thanks for looking

Good effort Niko, i have to agree film was certainty better at star trails, and there was no sensor noise to boot.

Admittedly one could not stack a heap of negs, but you cant have it all.

my guess of the noise may be heat, the red glow in the bottom left corner may be amp glow form the battery which is hightened when its warm.

i like it though. i'd be happy with it.

Have you done this with the shutter open for the duration or multiple exposures and that Startrail software I think you have used before?

You could always try a dose of Noise Ninja if the noise bothers you.

Pretty good image Niko :)
I don't think it is so much camera noise but it is your snoring traveling thru the soil and vibrating the tripod
