I am thinking of buying a Pentax XW eyepiece from a US Astro store for USD350 which includes international courier delievery. This is significantly cheaper than any of the local Astro stores seem to be able to offer me but I am concerned whether there will be any additional extra costs I might have to pay through Australian customs and thus this may potentially defeat the savings from buying overseas.

Does anyone know what costs, if any, there might be on such an item if I buy via the internet from overseas and then have it shipped over?

The customs website has heaps of info: http://www.customs.gov.au

More specifically: http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page5653.asp

Hope that helps,
Simon
