Hi all
I have been trying to find 'where' Venus will make it's first contact with the Sun during the upcoming transit in June. I wish to do some imaging (not of the entire disc).
I have attached a pic from Starry Night and I have labelled north and west on the Sun based on the Ecliptic line.
Do I have this right?
Will Venus appear in the SW?
Thanks in advance

Have you tried http://transitofvenus.nl/wp/where-when/local-transit-times/ ?

They have a diagram of how the transit will appear for you. For me it looks like it runs across the disk from NE to NW. This matches what CdC gives.
First contact about 08:13 Last contact around 14:45

I'm waiting for a solar filter for fit my ST80. It's less effort to lug around than the bigger scopes.

Thanks Andrew - I have seen this site but I could not make head or tail of ingress location based on the slider animation.

Thanks Rob,
I had looked at the NASA sites but must have overlooked this! What a goose

Now I know where to look if it is clear!
