I just swung by Crago about an hour ago and nobody was there. It was a scheduled observing night run by members of the AANSW. It's understandable that nobody turned up considering the clouds, but it turned into a half reasonable night in my opinion.

I have been waiting for about 6 or 7 months to go to one of these nights and every time it is ruined by weather. Is there anybody on these forums that normally goes to these nights?

Is there a normal time that people start turning up?

Sorry, I am venting my frustration perhaps, but it is starting to get very demoralizing.

I have gone a few times but I feel your pain, its been months since I had my scope out. However I must say its a great spot, so don't give up on it.

I usually go there if it's going to be clear. You're best to call Paul Hatchman or Ian Parr prior to make sure someone will be upvthere before you make the trip.

Hope to get out there myself soon for the first time. Can you park where you observe or do you need to walk with your gear?
The weather has been pretty awful recently. I haven't been out for ages now. The new scope getting dusty.

There is fair bit of room on the observing field to park your car and setup your rig. BYO power.

The instructions I have been given is to ring the site manager (Ian Parr) on the afternoon of the viewing night. His details can be found on the AS
NSW website.
