Just purchaced a 10 inc Bintel Dob on Wednesday .It was a clear night lats night (Friday) so with much excitment i got set up.As i am sure most of you would be aware its a big scope to move around.My target was Jupiter and woo it took a little bit of time and playing around with lenses but i got what i was looking for Amazzzing Jupiter i could see two bands and its four moons . ill never forget that first visuion. it also looked as though it was spinning .:eyepop:

:D It IS spinning!! Jupiter and his moons are so dynamic. You can leave them for as little as 20 minutes , come back and see a significant change in position. Oh, just wait till you see your first Shadow Transit. The suspense of waiting for the Great Red Spot to come around from the far side.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your first Saturn experience. :D

Yes the first time I saw Saturn and Jupiter I was the same wow then came Tuc47 we are small !

Is it Possible to take photos from my Dob on to a iphone or even just a standard digital camara ? just of moon ? :) if not what is the best way of doing it ?

Hi Gilbert :hi: ... Yes indeed,some gorg images are being taken with iphone or similiar (and dig cameras) of the Moon. Takes a few trys to get the position right against the eyepiece, but then, wow again. :thumbsup:

Yes, just hold the camera up to your eyepiece.

:) Gilbert , glad you are hooked , 10 inches of pure joy a fine scope .
Look thru the imaging section here and then 'Solar System' . lookdown thru the folders and see if you find ' Moon with HTC smartphone ' these are mine using the ' Afocal ' method , good results are to be had :thumbsup:.
Its not that hard , you only have to hold the camera lense in exactly right place and push the shutter control.

Can anyone tell me if a Celestron SE Next Star 6 will track a star or planet .I have spoken to two pepole one say it will and the other says it won"t .

Thank you, sounds like you really took time to observe what was in your scope rather than just have a look, great isn't it. Your post took me back about 40 plus years to my first views of Jupiter and Saturn. Could not have imagined then what a 10inch scope would have been like to look through. My brother and I had a 60mm Tasco (66TE?) and a 4.5 inch Tasco reflector on our verandah (felt like Mt Palomar) and that hooked me well an truely.
Keep up the reports as you discover your universe.

Even the moon is a spectaular site to see close up its crator and there size are mind bogling looks like you would need a 4x4 to get around in looking threw the Dob it is as though you could touch it.:eyepop:
