Well I did it the other day. I went out and bought a 2 wheel drive electric buggy. What a hoot. This thing absolutely flies. Ithas a brushless electric motor and purs along at 40MPH, yes 40 MILES per hour with the 8.4V batteries I currently have. It is capable of 70MPH if I get some 11.1 Lipo batteries but it's current speed is more than enough.

I am going out tomorrow to get myself a 4X4 monster truck version for a bit of 4 X 4 adventure and fun.

This has to be the most fun you can have with your pants on.

My wife just commented to her friend that I am going through my second childhood. Could be right and whats more I am really enjoying myself. Much more exciting than cuttin the lawns.

Hi Mark, Not planes. Couldn't handle the BS involved in the RC plane club here and you can't use the airstrip without being supervised by one of them until they say you have spent enough training time. 12 months on average. I did ask if I got a full comercial lic after that period but they got quite shirty.
I am sure if I suggest something else SWMBO will have me talking with a much higher voice.

I pick up a new motor for my 1/10th scale nitro road car tomorrow. It is 4wd and it is so quick I am not game to flatten it in case it gets out of range!!:eyepop:

Looking into 1/5 and 1/4 scale buggies next week, that ought to be real fun!!:D

An IOM (One Metre) club boat will only set you back about $1,000 to $2,000 but a really competitive boat will be around $3,000 to $4,000.

Then, we get into the Marblehead class. (Next one up.)
These can cost you up to $8,000.

Of course, they can cost a lot less if you build them yourself. ;)

They may not be quite as noisy or quick as those cars, trucks & planes but the
excitement factor has to be experienced to be appreciated.

+ You get a lovely sun tan at the same time.

Hi Gray, These little beasts are 1/10 scale with huge brushless motors which are quite frightening. I did look at some big 2 stroke models in the shop and they weren't that expensive butyou need a big vehicleto transport them around.



Ha Ha Ha get one with a V8. Add new life to cutting the grass.

Sounds interesting but we don't get very much wind in this town, not very much at all. It would need a motor for sure.

I am currently using 8.4 V 4200Mah batteries and the optional gear which comes in the box with the car. I really dont see much need to run the big LiPo batteries for 60 to 70 MPH speeds, at least not at the moment anyway.

These remote control items sound like they provide people with lots of enjoyment.My son has some friends right into those 'big wheeled' 4 by 4 type of jeep things-they do all sorts of jumps on rough dirt tracks.

Most interesting to see the vids.They sure are quite robustly made,(I think one member here said she played with her sons' RC car and jumped it over the fence!)

I found this supplier of RC goodies-I like this scale model mineral truck,at 75 cm
long and 20 cm wide-its quite large.

Good stuff Eric. I just want to kow how they stay upright. Some of the movements look quite unnatural.



Ha Ha, now we need to get him out to he model shop in Lavington with his credit card. You have a great area in front of our house for helicopters or cars.



I did find this sale outlet as well Chris but was unable to find out terribly much abot the brand name they seem to sell. They may well be great and they seem to sell all the parts as well which depending on what you buy, can be very important.
The cars I settled on were electic, waterproof and ran good radio gear and used big brushless motors which should provide trouble free and powerfull running for some time.

Definitely great fun.
A 1/10 scale car running accross a football ground at 45MPH is quite scarey and lifts the blood pressure and concentration levels quite some.

The way I'm going the helicopters will still be in pieces. Seem to get about 3 or 4 reasonable flights hen a crash and a rebuild required.

The cars are just great fun an almost indestructable. The boys will love them and so will you I'm sure.
