Seems everyone is having a go at the Tarantula these days.
I was testing the 10"SCT +f6.3 FR and decided to get some Ha of N2070. Still messing with the settings but I must admit I like the QSI cameras.
I must admit on going from a Tif in PS to a Jpeg for the web a lot of nebulosity and gamma correction appears to happen. Sum of 6x20 min shots with Astronomiks Ha filter.
Added a second Sidonio'ed image for comparison and colour TOO!!
Anyway comments welcomed

Heaps of detail Allan. The QSI is a great camera. What settings are you referring to here?

Nice going Allan. Plenty of detail in that shot and the guiding looks like it is behaving nicely for a 20 min sub.

Hi Allan,

So sharp and detailed.

Good composition and impressive tonal range.

Thanks.

Ross.

Paul,
Just the settings in PS to shrink down to 200Kb Jpeg seems in my hands to radically alter the Gama levels which then needs to be adjusted prior to posting.

Peter, finally all of my equipment is playing nicely in the same sand pit so I can't complain. The next step will be to add some colour with the qhy10.

Thanks for the comments Ross. The QSI583 is such a nicely behaved camera that you really forget it's hanging off the back of the scope. Also I'm quite happy with the 10" SCT as it really is delivering the goods for me.

Allan don't use PS for web, it is too rough and leaves lots of problems with images. I use Irfan View which is great for image reduction and web use. Very powerful and very clean at reduction.

Hi Alan,
nice image, I like this area in Ha
I use Irfranview as well to reduce images its pretty good.
Also you probably already know this....... but I came across this site called "Astrobin" looks pretty good you can upload virtually any size image, you can add a link to view your image at a much better scale

cheers,
Richard

Marc, I did a Sidonio on it and preserved a lot more detail and it doesnt look as flat. Hope you agree.

Paul, thanks for the tip and Ill use Irfanview to redo by Sidonio, see attached

Thanks Richard, Ill give that a go as well. Thanks for the tip.

Allan great shots, the second Ha and the colour show exquisite detail in the core, well done.

Grasshopper is happy Master.
Only imaged this a few times but need to do this with the qhy10 and the 10"RC and then put to the Ha data

Thanks Paul, coming from you it's a compliment. Still want to see the 12" data that Virgs is alluding to.

Thanks Geoff for the nice comments as they are appreciated.

It's odd that if you look at the replies to a post, you are lucky if 1 in 10 make any comment after viewing
