Sick of it yet? Lovejoy/LMC

:D I swapped over to the Modded Canon 20d to take this image last night. Really really glad I did. The noise level is incredibly lower than the Canon 550D.
What a crap camera the Canon 550d is for Astro work. :(
This image is made from 10 x 4 minute subs . The camera was set to ISO 1600 and the lens to F2.8.

Yep the 20D is still a great Astro camera. I reckon the pinnacle of the canon cameras..

Thanks for the photos. It seems a good idea to have a good photographic record of Lovejoy since it was quite a spectaclar visitor. I will remember those early mornings in Jan 2012 very fondly.
However the fractured toe I obtained leaping out of bed to a 3am alarm will not be so fondly remembered :-)

i will never grow tired of seeing Lovejoy images, or any other astro images:)
Did you still use the 50mm nifty fifty lens like the previous LMC with Lovejoy image?
This lens will be the next on my list, keeping a keen eye out now:)

Do you have any images taken with the 550D as a comparison? I have a 500d and last night bought a 50mm EF f1.8 lens and am keen to get it pointed upward. Will only be on a standard tripod for now. But its a start:)
