Hi all,
Just letting Vic members know that the Mount Burnett Observatory will have its official opening tomorrow 21 Jan http://mtburnettobservatory.org/
It's now a community observatory, having served as a research observatory for Monash Uni physics students in the late 70s and throughout the 80's.
Alas, I won't make it, but have applied for membership :)
Cheers,
Bo

I was hoping to go to Snake Valley next Friday, I wonder if I can get two leave passes in two weeks.

Well, I have used up a leave pass as I managed to get to the opening (I did not get home until 2am.)

A top night and great to get a chance to have a peer through the main scope (at 47 Tuc, which showed significantly more detail in the core than in my 9.25, as you would expect) the clouds finally parted for us after dark and a variety of scopes came out.
