Wow, 100,000 people are part of the project already.
Seems a very rewarding thing to get involved in.
Thanks for the link Rob.

Ahhhh, yeah Bob, that's a part of Zooniverse

I have been involved in their Galaxy Classification program for many years and I have classified several thousand galaxies.

It is a great organisation and a worthwhile endeavour to get involved with.

I would like to get involved in the Planet search too. I would have to put the Galaxy Classifying aside to do that, but it is too much fun to stop!

Go for it folks, it's all for a good cause
and many interesting discoveries have been made in Zooniverse projects :)

I am a Zooniverse member and participated in the IceHunters KBO search.

I received an email from Pamela Gay, Zooniverse, in March this year.
-----------------
Header: YOU made an IceHunters KBO discovery?

Dear IceHunter,
You found a Kuiper Belt Object! (or several)
etc..etc..
-----------------
No details about the discovery, just asking about how I wished my name to be published.

I have since been advised that the discovery has been published in M.P.E.C. circular 2012-F109, Issued 2012 Mar. 30.

I am the 'P. Jackson' listed.

My 2 KBO's are: 2004 LV31 And 2004 LW31
On the down side, there are about 550 other people on the discovery list.
It is not quite the same as having discovered a Comet and having your name attached to it, and not like discovering them visually, but I am very happy to be a very small part of the discovery.

Hey Bill,

yep, ur right alright matey. Thanks for pointing that out - I hadn't spotted his post was so old. He left in a bit of a hissy fit (sorry if you're reading this Ken ;)) around May this year, so I thought he'd returned.

Oh well, I'll have to read more carefully in future.

Cheers Bill,
