I did my very first guided image of ETA Carina on the G11.
I have guided at dark sites through my ED80 but thats just widefield stuff and 10x easier then guiding in Brisbane at a longer focal length.
Image's taken with my 20DA throught the C11 fl approx 1700mm at F6
18th March 2006 between 8:00pm - 9:30pm
Image taken at my house Tingalpa Brisbane.
Bright Moon
5 x 5 minute exposure's at ISO 400
5 x 4 minute exposures at ISO 800
Baader UHC-s filter used
Total exposure time 45 minutes
Calibrated with
20 bias frames combined to make a Master Bias Frame
10 dark frames combined to make a Master Dark Frame
20 Flat frames Combined to make a Master Flat Frame
All calibrated in Imagesplus and made pretty in PhotoshopCS
I am very happy with the detail....I never thought when I first got my DSLR that I would ever dream about getting images like this from Home...maybe at a dark site yes but not here.

Nice work Tony.
I'm interested to know why you chose to use two different ISO's on this shot.
You have also made me think about DSOs under a moon. Does the UHC-S work that well?
Cheers

That is the best keyhole I have ever seen. The red is great, but what makes it so great is the 3d effect, It feels like a nagler etc!!
On the big piccie, middle bottom, there are two "scratch" marks. Are they guiding anomolies? Sorry not using tech talk here?

They look like hot pixels that have not been removed by the processing.

Thanks guys.....it has just taken a long time for me to actualy be able to guide imaging through the C11.....so I am bit excited ATM....lol
BTW I was able to guide with the toucam on this target...looking forward to the S-Big guide camera to take it's place.
No real reason using different ISO's.....just experimenting when I saw Scott & Paul using realy low ISO's.
I love the Baader UHC-s filter...you see the difference immediately.
There is no way I coud take a 5 minute image here in Brisbane without the filter, I just wished I could use it for every target but it doesn't work that way.
Thanks to you Tony I am understanding Imagesplus processing and absolutely love that auto image set processing.
Makes a huge difference....I have not had to use any noise removal software in the proccesing since.

OK thanks
Thanks. I haven't tried mine while the moon was out. I will have to give it a go.
No probs Tony. Yea, that auto set processing is magic.

Well done Tony! a direct comparison between yours and scotts shot is almost warrented, the 20da and the hutech 350d!
Tony what size Baader UHC-s filter do you use, the 2" ?

A modified Canon 350D is more then double the sensativity in HA then the 20DA.....remember the 20DA has a lense modified to be used for day use and auto focusl..the 350 modified lense is clear making it more responsive in HA then the 20DA.
I like the pro's of the 20DA much more then the extra HA reponse of the modified camera's...such as the ease of focus and no filters are needed for family snaps...this is being honest...it does not take me anymore then 20seconds to focus accurately.
If you were after a camera only dedicated for astronomy then a modified camera is the way to go like Scotts and Berts.
For me I wanted an all round camera = 20DA
Andrew...yep just the 2" BAADER UHC-S Filter
Thanks for your comments guys....this is so much fun.

Tony that's nothing short of amazing. I'm still in the dark ages with this deep sky stuff and DSLRs etc etc. I find it hard to believe shots like this are possible from Brisbane let alone with the moon up. It's gob smacking. Almost enough to make me thing about things other than planets ;)

A wonderfully deep shot, the nebula really looks good there. The UHCS filter sure makes the difference on red emission nebulae doesnt it?
