Hi all,

Thougth I'd process this series of photo's from October. It shows the Moon (wa a thin crescent) setting benieth the Milky Way.

Probably a bit of twilight down the bottom too, as well as a little light pollution.

The sight was stunning in real life. I walked out of our cottage to see the moon setting on the clear evening wth Milky Way above, quite spectacular.

Taking the photo was quite rushed. Because I hadn't realised this was going to be taking place I was casually eating dinner then had to rush to set up the AstroTrac when I saw it. Lucky i only took a couple of mins to whip it out and get it tracking. Still missed a few good shots though.

It was on the field at Astro Camp so people all around clicking away with the photo's and admiring the sight.

Roger.

Great photo!!
I'm always seeing "things" in astro images. And our Galactic Centre with the Pipe Nebula always looks to me like the face of a Persian cat. :screwy: LOL

Beautiful! I remember the exact scene at IISAC! We were up at "Lake IISAC" watching it set over the mountain. Was stunning.

Thanks to all for your replies, I'm glad you enjoyed the photo.

:) My wife always makes shapes out of the stars etc in my astronomy pics (and visually too) ... so I'll have to test this one out on her :)

I see I got the caption in the image completely wrong. It's 7 x 120 seconds with only one exposure used for the foreground. Not sure where I got the 4 and 7 from in the captuion :screwy:

Yep, I agree, looks like a huge Trifid Nebula, that's got a pussy's face in it too

Great vista Roger

Very nice, it's a great photo and it also lets me imagine how it was to be there. Great work.

Thanks Luigi, that means a lot to me, as I generally (an definitely in this case) aim to keep my wide field photo's representing the scene as it was, to give the viewer a sense of what it as actually like, rather than processing to bring out large amounts of unseen data.

That's a very cool framing Roger. Like a nocturnal sunset. Awesome.

Very nice, I think the processing was very difficult.
