First real go at a RGB composite

Hi Guys, I got up last night with the intention of shooting some photos of something to test my new focuser and light box. After alignment I found out my target of choice would not clear a tree like I had hoped it would, so I just slewed to the horse head as I had problems with flats there before and thought it would be a good test.

I am still to learn to process LRGB images very well ( this will be my first with nice flats ). Overall I am happy with the outcome, The slight cast in the lower section is a little annoying, and the reflection I am not worried about because this is probally the only place im going to see it. I am quite fond of the reflection nebula in the upper left around the star.

This is 14 5 minute luminance frames

and 3 3 minute RGB binned 2X2

I should be getting a 7nm baader H-alpha filter on monday this week and an adaptor to get my off axis guider work so we will have to see how that all goes.

Looks like everything is working we in your setup. Nice image, maybe a bit of a magenta cast overall? Did you take this from the suburbs?

Thanks everyone, The processing is very sub par haha. The image was taken from my house in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. The sky is not too bad here I can see the LMC and SMC with my bare eyes, but I am still looking forward to the H-alpha filter.

Im going to get some data from a few objects when I get my parts during the week and then I will have time to learn processing.

Peter,sometimes we are our hardest critics....you have done very well here and are closer to a great looking image than you think...honestly.

Im sure its not too much to learn, I know im not too far from a great image but the more critical I am at the moment the more I think I will improve.

How far south of Adelaide are you? I made my first attempt of the flame/horsehead last night but the wind was quite gusty. I've had very few clear and calm evenings lately. The winds from the E/SSE have been rather annoying and I've only had one good session since November. My skies are quite dark, except to the north.

Im almost on the beach at kingston park, im about the same ok skys to the south but the north is bad. Last night started out with very little wind but around 1-2am it picked up. I packed all the stuff in at 230.
