As much as it pains me to do this, the time has come to sell my G11. Consisting of:
G11 Head
HD tripod
Gemini box and hand controller
motor cables and hand controller cable
Clutch knob set
tripod knob set
High precision worms and one piece worm blocks
1 x 21lb counterweight
1 x 7lb counterweight
I will also include with the sale:
13.8V regulated power supply in a custom made plywood box with space for 45Ah deep cycle battery
USB to Serial adapter for connecting Gemini to PC (with long ?10m serial cable)
Original digital drive and hand controller and cables
Original motors and worms / worm blocks and covers
$3400 firm (plus shipping if required). Please note the price is firm. This is a great mount at a fair price
this is over $1000 less than buying a new one with the included bits - plus it has the high precision worms and one-piece worm blocks - these cost me $750.
There are a few reasons for the sale, but mostly it boils down to the fact that I haven't been getting to use it much with other commitments and the weather etc, plus it is taking up space in my space-challenged office, and I need the spare cash for a few other things coming up this year.
I bought the mount head from another IISer at the end of 2010. At the time it wasn't in great condition. The axes were quite stiff with lots of old grease in them. It only had the original digital drive (so non-goto). I bought the HD tripod from 1ponders, and the Gemini system and motors from Brundah1 (this was new / unused when I bought it)
When I bought the mount the PE was about 12-13 arc secs peak to peak - not great, but it guided well enough. Then in order to install the new motors that came with the Gemini system, I had to get new one-piece worm blocks on both axes as the gearbox/motor mounting system was different. I also got the high precision worms at the same time. After a thorough strip-down and re-greas (including replaced clutches), the PE (measured with PEMpro) was about 3.5 arc secs peak to peak - nice!
I have a set of tripod knobs for it - to replace the allen key bolts to the tripod, and the clutch knob set which makes it much easier to adjust the clutches.
due to the complexity of packing this all up well enough for shipping, I would much prefer a local buyer, and I am prepared to deliver it within a couple of hundred km's - but of course pickup is OK too.
The first local buyer to contact me will get it, then if there are no local buyers it will go to the first non-local buyer to contact me.
