Our family christmas holidays in 2011 took us to Kioloa Beach, a nice remote stretch of coast about half an hour outside Bateman’s Bay on the South Coast of NSW.

On the last morning of 2011, I headed out early to capture some images of Comet Lovejoy and the night sky over Kioloa Beach. Here are the first of the shots.

The first shot is about 10 images stacked, and in the second, I sat as still as possible for 2 frames.
The last photo is for my karate dojo - they're having a small competition where we had to take a photo of ourselves training on our xmas holidays - I had to hold the pose for 51 seconds :)

Thanks for looking. Comments always welcome.

Not much movement either, Impressive

I didn't see the comet, cloud and then when it did clear a couple of nights ago I couldn't make it out naked eye from inner suburban Newcastle

No hair on your legs Mike......... 51 seconds..... Would seem like an eternity.
Looks like a lovely place to holiday.

hehe thanks, it was a nice spot. No internet connection and nothing nearby so it forced us to relax :)

I couldn't see it naked eye either Mike, but picked it up in camera exposures. I only saw it naked eye in the first few days before xmas, and didn't get to look again until it had faded too much.

Looks like you had a nice, relaxing time Mike. The only nit-pick is that your knee looks slightly over your toe in front stance. Feeling safe at the keyboard, I would not raise this point face to face with a 1st Dan black belt!:P;)

Cheers

Thanks Troy

LOL you're quite right Dennis - I did have another photo with a deeper front stance, but it was more difficult to hold the pose for the 51 seconds and there was too much movement :)

Thanks Dave - I had the type of photo I wanted in my minds eye and I'm quite pleased with how well it worked out.
I wish I could've held a roundhouse kick perfectly still for 51 seconds :)

Or... you could cheat and use a bit of flash ;)
