Looking for more astrophotographers to help broadcast on Google+

Hi everyone, my name is Fraser Cain, I'm the publisher of Universe Today. We've been featuring lots of images from IceInSpace on the website, but now we're trying to take astronomy to the next level.

As some of you might have seen, we've been experimenting with using broadcasting live video feeds from telescopes around the world into a live Google+ Hangout.

We did our first demonstration today, which I've now posted to Youtube:

Functional or Possible? Of course it is. :)
You can see several hundred Amateur Astronomers from around the world broadcasting Solar, Lunar/Planetary, and Deep Sky Objects 'Live' on NightSkiesNetwork almost 24 hours a day.
I am just one of the hundreds of Broadcasters in NightSkiesNetwork which is the worlds leading site for Video Astronomy and each broadcast by the members is interactive with the viewers able to ask questions, ask to see certain objects etc.
I have been broadcasting 'Live' Deep Space on NightSkies Network (under the name 'Snake Valley Australia') for just over 12 months now, showing the world our Southern Sky Galaxies, Nebulae, Star Clusters etc. all in LIVE color from a Mallincam Xtreme camera in a 10" f4 Schmidt-Newtonian.

Ken, every time I've looked at NSN in the last couple of months no-one has been broadcasting. Tonight there is one broadcaster online.

Often when I go in there I see several broadcasts on at the same time.
But you also have to be aware of the time differences around the world.

I watch many of the USA and Canadian broadcasts in our early to late afternoons.
In our early evening to late night you can see New Zealand Broadcasts but there are only 2 or 3 New Zealanders that broadcast, and if they have lousy weather you won't see them.
Same with everywhere. If their weather is bad you won't get anyone online.
Late at night to early morning if the sky is clear there are often 3 of us Aussies Broadcasting in there, then later in the morning you should see the guys in India, then Europe and UK, then back around to all the Americans and Canadians in the afternoon again.
You may sometimes also catch USA and Canadians doing Solar broadcasts during our night time.
It's a popular site, but still hit and miss according to everyones weather :thumbsup:

Whoever sets up a similiar site to NSN will get the same results.
Our hobby is totally dependant upon the weather.
And sometimes no-one may broadcast for a whole day or two.

Other times its crowded :lol:

There really needs to be some sort of Program guide. Sort of like a TV Week. Who is on when :thumbsup:
But you only need a change in the weather and the program is shot to pieces :sadeyes:

We just need more telescopes.

I have been trying to join the hangouts since it started unfortunately never seem to be around when the hangouts start. Noticed you have a timer on the website. Need to organise myself a bit more.

Fraser, I meant having them join IIS. I saw Pamela on the video. Google+ is another thing that does not come with an installer suitable for Slackware. Maybe I can disassemble the rpm and build a tgz from it.
