Hi all , we have a break in the weather tonight so I am out looking at the moon .
Telescope is my NG 127mm triplet on its Ioptron iEQ45 mount. Camera is the 5.2 megga pixel HTC smartphone held up to the following eyepieces .
Photo #1 , 8mm radian at 119x .
Photo #2 , 17mm Nagler t4.
Hope you enjoy , I can see how this astro photography thing is so addictive , awsome results to be had . . I am inpressed with pitch blackness of the surrounding sky , a tribuite to the scattered light supression in this scope , as I am in the middle of a city of 30,000 people .

Nice shots, Brian. Now you're on the slippery slope of astropics and empty wallets:):):P

That's impressive!
Didn't see the HTC in you equipment list :-)
Gee, they have come up well Brian, pretty sharp for a phone!! I also have a HTC, but have never had any luck, you have inspired me to try again.

:) Thanks Liz, its very hard to hold the tiny lense of our phones in exactly :mad2: the right place and push the button , nine has a touch button on the screen and that makes it a little easier as the phone is held naturally and my finger is over the button without even thinking about it .
See Trevors reply and if I get ;) a device to work I will post the design here .

:) thanks Bob , Yea not bad for a phone camera .;) I can see how this astro photography thing can become addictive, as Carl said , "slippery slope to empty wallets " I might look into the CCD cameras for sale at Andrews , they look well made and reasnobly cheep ?

Your best value for money is the little Atik 314+. Here's a review on the camera...

Those came out well. Ive been trying to do the same with my new HTC phone with its 8 megapixel camera, and Ive had a much harder time getting a nice picture. But, that's probably more due to my failings rather then the phones as I'm using a 12 inch dob with no moon filter. I may as well be using my phone camera to take pictures of the sun.

The best I can at the moment. Might try some moon filters next time though
Its a shame though. It looks so much better at the eyepieces.

:thumbsup:Yes I do beileve a moon filter is what you need ,, a little to much light from the 12 inches  , its not easy to get the phone in exactly the right spot .
Keep it up tho , you may be suprised .
