Great weather so kept imaging
Here is the Horse Head and Flame
LRGB 40:30:30:30
Thanks to Mill I used DPP in my pre processing and it seems to have sorted the clipping out.
Comments welcomed
(Starting to get used to the 4000 now, its differnet to the 314L)

That's a great image... do you mind if I ask what scope and exposure time per sub that you used?
I recently tried taking the horsehead as well, it is not an easy target :)

Hi Victor
I used an ED80 on an EQ6 mount. I use Astronomik Filters with a light pollution filter. The exposure times were all 10 min each and guiding with PHD.
Good luck with the target! The trick is long exposure times but being mindful of not blowing out the stars

This looks good Paul. The colour is subtle and the detail while sharp isn't sharpened to death.
Very nice.

Beautiful version of the HH. A little dark and moody. Lovely colour and composition.

Thanks Doug. The Atik requires different processing. Than the 314 l. Getting used to it slowly.

Thanks Lucas. I was happy with it but I must say thanks to Mill who put me onto dpp which helped in the clipping reduction which allowed me to keep the image under processed and not overly.

Thats a lovely shot, perhaps a little dim but well processed, stars are very good and Flame has a bautiful colour tone. How does the 4000 compare with 314 for sensitivity, QE is less but pixels are bigger. What is biggest problem with 4000? I have been interested in this CCD.
John.

Thanks. So far the difference has been the lum channel dominating over rgb. I have to compensate in processing more. Also images overall not as bright but a more balanced overall image is attained.
But of course it's a much larger chip! Easier to find objects and fit more into th shot.

Hi Paul,
A great photo.
My second favourite object in the sky and you have captured it so well.
I love the colours.
You've got the new camera working so well.
Ross.
